Einstein's special theory of relativity
Today's blog is going to be interesting for physics enthusiasts.
Yesterday, I finally understood the special theory of relativity by Albert Einstein. And now I'm trying to explain it in my words.
Well, you may have watched sci-fiction movies in which someone goes into space for a long time, and when they return a long time has been passed on earth but only a little time had been passed for them. If not watched suck kind of movie then probably have heard about this.
Now, we don't know if this happens in reality or not but because Einstein, one of the greatest scientists of all time had proposed it so we should consider it.
According to the special theory of relativity, the only thing constant in this entire universe is the speed of light. Not even time is constant. By this, it means that time does not pass at the same rate for all. Earlier I used to think that time is constant for everyone. If someone is sitting on their desk, or someone driving to the office or an astronaut traveling through space at a very high speed comparable to that of light, time passes equally for all then why do they show that time confusion in movies? This was the question always in my mind. And yesterday, I finally got the answer, that what I used to think was not true at all. Time does not pass at the same rate for all.
Let me tell you first about what the speed of light is. It is the speed at which light travels and that is 30,00,00,000 km/s. Such a large number. Isn't it? And this is the only thing constant in the entire universe, that is which never change. Now according to the special theory of relativity, one second is nothing but the moment light travels a distance of 30,00,00,000 km. Now let's consider an instance. You must have experienced it while traveling on a train. Suppose you're looking out of the window and you see a train on the sidetrack. If that train is going in the same direction and at the same speed as yours, it will appear as if it is not moving at all. Right? Now let's consider another case. Suppose you have the ability to run at the speed of light(that huge number). You're standing along with one of your friends who's holding a laser light pointer. And the moment he turns on the pointer you start running at the speed of light in the same direction where the laser has been pointed. Now, what happens is that you and the laser beam both are moving at the same speed that is of light. So when you look on your side for the laser beam it will appear as if the laser beam is not moving. And because it is not moving it means for you it will appear as if light has stopped. Now the theory of relativity says that one second is when light travels 30,00,00,000 km. But since for you light is stopped so it means the time has also stopped for you. This is what happens when someone travel at speeds comparable to that of light. For them, light appears to have traveling slower and so time slows down for them as well. But because we are not moving that fast, time is passing as usual for us. And this is the reason why time slows down for astronauts in sci-fiction movies. I hope it explained more than it confused.
Have a great day!
Yesterday I learned something about the brain and its relation to exercise.
Earlier, Koalas had a bigger brain than humans but their lack of activity and poor diet led to shrinkage of their brains.
The same happens when we get inactive. The more inactive we get the more comfortable the brain starts feeling and it works slower. And if such inactivity is continued for a long time then it leads to reduced brain activity.
As we get active, it becomes complex for the brain to understand and it starts to work more efficiently to understand what's happening. In this way, the more active you get, the complex it becomes for the brain and it works more efficiently and actively.
Also, apart from efficiency, exercising releases feel-good endorphins called dopamine which makes us feel awesome for the day. Also, when dopamine is released, cortisol levels, the stress hormone decrease leading to reduced anxiety, stress, and a cheerful and productive day.
Now, last but not least, you can yourself experience the change in your personality and appearance after exercising in a routine for some time. Of course, the change you will observe would be better in comparison to the past. Also, a great physique is not something that can be bought from money. One has to work hard and consistently to achieve it. It shows, how determined you're and how much hard work you've put in to achieve that physique.
So, in conclusion, I will only tell that exercising is important for us. It is our body and mind, something we didn't bring from money but from existence and it should be our priority that it is at its best.
Have a great day!
