The failures that turned into fears

Many times we fail to do something. And sometimes, we fail to do a certain thing again and again. And this repeated failure eventually transforms into a fear. A fear that makes us believe that we will fail again. For some people that fear gets so big that they quit that task, never picks it up again, and for the rest of their lives keep on believing that they do not have the potential to do it.

I'm not talking about some big tasks that only the experts do. It could be anything. For example, let's take a personal experience of mine. From the beginning, I was never good at maths. In junior classes, I used to score average marks in maths. But, as I moved to higher classes my marks in maths drastically reduced, and when I came to 5th standard, I failed in that subject. Not once, but many times. And that repeated failure turned into fear from maths. Every maths test used to feel like a burden, I used to check my solutions many times because there was a fear that my answers could be wrong. And in this way, I somehow was managing to score below-average but at least not failing. And it went on till I reached 10th standard when my mother discussed this with my maths teacher in the parents-teacher meeting. And that day I realized that the fault was mine. My teacher advised me to practice 10 problems every day without missing a single day. I did that, and the magic happened. I started scoring full marks and finally overcame the fear.

So, the conclusion is that it is only we who are responsible for our failures and the failures that turned into fears. It's just that we have made a negative mindset towards those things else we could have overcome them very easily. In the end, I would only suggest starting to face the fears, practice, and improve where you're lacking and the magic will happen by itself.

Have a great day!
