The power of consistency
For the last 20 days, there was not a single day where I wouldn't have gone for work out. So, when I go for a workout, I wake up at 6 in the morning. Every third day is a rest day and that day I usually wake up at around 8 AM. But these days, I don't really feel like sleeping after 6 even if it's a rest day. So, for the last 20 days, I've not missed a single day. Even if it's a rest day, I go for a morning walk and do some stretching. I don't even require an alarm to wake up anymore.
A few months back, it was not easy to wake up every day and go out for those intense workouts. Rest days used to feel like a savior. And sometimes, I used to fail waking up the next day after the rest day. And in this way, I'd missed my workout many times.
At that time, I was not really enjoying it. And now I'm enjoying it like never before. And the biggest reason behind this excitement which makes me get out of bed every day is the progress I can see in my physique.
And this is not just with me. It happens with everyone and in every aspect. It need not be a physical transformation. It can be anything. For instance, if a student gradually starts getting really good scores in tests, then he would always be excited about the next test. The same tests appear challenging to him when he is not scoring well enough. And the same test becomes interesting when he knows that he can tackle it with ease.
So, this is how it works. Things may appear challenging and tedious to us in the beginning, but as we start making progress, they start to excite us. And that is why we should never step back and should always keep on doing things consistently even if they look tedious at some point in time.
Have a great day!
