How to actually get things done?

Getting things done is the biggest issue everyone deals with. We all have a number of tasks every day, but not everyone successfully manages to get each of them done. You might have found yourself switching through multiple tasks and still couldn't finish any of those by the end of the day, and this is not something only you are struggling with. A lot of people struggle with this problem. Then, the question arises, how to actually get things done?

Before answering this question, I have a question for you, have you ever tried to classify the tasks you've got? I know, for most of you, the answer is a no. I have personally dealt with this situation but for a long time I kept on ignoring it. Gradually, I realized that the efforts and time I've been putting in are not worth the output I was getting. Or I could say the output was not up to the mark of the amount of time I was spending.

Now, what you need to do to get out of this exhausting situation is categorizing the tasks. Make a list of things you've got to do on a usual day. If you're not sure about your usual daily tasks then you need to make a basic routine first. Then try to figure out the usual daily tasks on a surface level. Make another list of things you need to complete in the particular month and similarly one for the year. Now, in the year list, there must be certain things that you've got to do daily for the year or a longer time. These are the things that go on a higher priority. Contrary to them, there must be some tasks that needs to be done for a week or a month. They too go on a higher priority. Now, try to finish these higher priority tasks first in a sequential order in your day. And then go for lower priority tasks. In this way, if you're out of time at the end of the day then also you need not worry about anything because they are of least importance.

When you're done with sorting, make a routine on how you're going to spend your day in order to get the things done. You can plan different routine for different days of the week. I prefer keeping routine for the weekdays and weekends a little different so that one can enjoy on the weekends.
Similarly, plan out your month and your year as well. You should have certain targets at the beginning of the year, month, week, and day as well. This way you will be able to get most of the things done as quickly as possible. I suggest keeping a diary or journal where you make plans. It helps a lot, I personally keep one.

In the end, it's all about how systematic you're. I'm not saying to follow a very strict routine. It's just be systematic, the less randomness you'll keep the more smoothly things will go.

Have a great day!
