The four natural drugs

 Hey!

So hopefully, I woke up today in the morning and finally went for a workout and so this blog's name is not going to be changed. I guess, what I announced yesterday was something necessary. The moment I opened my eyes in the morning, I suddenly jumped out of my bed because that thought of renaming this blog to " A Sluggard's diary" freaked me out badly. And, thankfully I went for the workout and now I'm feeling really great. Now, it seems like I'm satisfied with my day, unlike the past days where I was just regretting it. This also proves that announcing something with frightening conditions can make you do anything.

Anyways, today I'm writing about something that is common among all of us but I guess not everyone knows about it. So, it's about dopamine, serotonin, oxytocin, and endorphin. I guess not everyone is familiar with these terms. Still, they are common to all of us. So, wouldn't you like to know about them? If yes, then keep on reading, else it's your choice.

Dopamine is the hormone that hits you when you complete a task that requires effort and then you feel satisfied. Like, finishing your assignment, winning a competition, or anything that is rewarding and makes you satisfied. But sometimes, people get the same dopamine burst without doing any effort and this is called cheap dopamine. And, it's addictive. Activities such as gambling, explicit content, drugs make you feel good without actually doing any efforts, and then your brain gets fooled that when you can get dopamine burst without doing efforts then why should you do those effortful tasks. So, always stay away from such things.

Serotonin stabilizes your mood. It makes you feel less stressed. Honestly speaking, I don't know much about serotonin. But, I just know that it comes when you engage yourself in physical exercises and workouts. And it keeps your mood stable. If you're the kind of person whose mood changes quickly then you should engage yourself in physical workouts.

Now comes the oxytocin, the love hormone. Now I won't ask you to get a romantic partner for yourself to keep oxytocin levels high in your brain. Though it actually hits you and then you feel you're in love. But, I believe oxytocin bursts make us unproductive. Also, it fades away with time. When it hits, people get so high that they eventually marry each other but as I said it fades away with time, so that is why people get divorced. Still, not trying to offend anyone so please do not take otherwise. And because oxytocin makes us feel good, I will suggest alternatives to experience it in the end.

Now comes the last one, Endorphin. It is actually a pain killer. Unlike serotonin which reduces mental pain, it reduces real pain. Like, the one you get by hurting yourself, in an accident or something. I'm not saying it can work in place of pain-killing medicines, but still, it works to a great extent. For instance, say you're in pain and then someone hugs you or you listen to music and you feel better.

So, I just tried describing whatever I knew about these neurotransmitters which do nothing more than just tricking our brain, especially the oxytocin. And if a person truly understands them then one can have total control over themselves. Also here are some good alternatives to experience them.

Have a great day!
